Mission
The mission of the Science is Fun Family is to enhance student interest in and their self-efficacy and abilities associated with science, as well as their perceptions of science and who can be a scientist. The diverse high school STEM role models that present Science is Fun illustrate that everyone can be a scientist!
Collaborations
The Basha Science is Fun Program collaborates with Arizona State University (ASU), its QESST NSF Engineering Research Center Outreach Program, the SciTech Institute, the Arizona SciTech Festival, the Chief Science Officer Program, and Mesa Public Schools, as well as with the students, teachers and administrators throughout the Chandler Unified School District. Together they form a Science Family Learning Community, where the Science is Fun Interns serve as STEM role models for the K-8th grade students they present to, with the students they present to also being welcomed into the Science is Fun Family. Dr. McKelvy, who founded and directs the Basha Science is Fun Program, co-founded and directed the ASU Science is Fun Program from 1998-2007 and continues to actively collaborate with ASU.
